Effects on children who grow up with homosexual parents or single parent?

I am wondering if anyone has a learned, psychological opinion on whether or not children could have problems later on in life if they are adopted into a home where there is either a single parent or homosexual parents.
Does a child require the nurturing of both sexes?
Please, I really just want professional opinions on this
